REAL WRITERS SHORT STORY AWARDS


CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

(Please see separate conditions for on-line entries)

  1. Entries must be prose fiction and the original, unpublished work of the author, and may be in any style or genre.
  2. Entries should be in English, typed, double spaced on one side of the paper only, and should not exceed 5000 words.
  3. Closing date 30th November 2005.
  4. The author's name should not appear on the manuscript; please attach an entry form (photocopies welcome) or a cover sheet.
  5. Manuscripts should be unbound and secured with a staple or paper clip; please do not submit entries in sleeves or folders.
  6. Entrants may submit as many stories as they wish, at £5.00 each. Special rate for under-16s. Entry fees should be paid by sterling cheque on a UK bank, payable to REAL WRITERS; UK postal order; Visa or Mastercard; or cash: £5 sterling, €10, or US$10 per entry.
  7. To receive a critique from a member of our skilled and experienced reading team, please enclose a second copy of the story, a stamped return envelope for each critique (manuscripts will not be returned), and additional payment of £15 (€30 or US$30.), or £10 (€20 or US$20) for under-16s. Each entrant may receive a maximum of two critiques. (Please note this rate is only available for work entered for the Awards.) All requests for critiques MUST arrive before Nov 1st 2005 - we cannot undertake to critique stories received later than this.

  10. Manuscripts CANNOT BE RETURNED.
  11. The judges' decisions are final.

Entries which fail to conform to any of these requirements may be disqualified. Entry fees are non-returnable. Prizewinners will be notified before April 20th 2006. A list of winners will appear on our website www.real-writers.com after this date. Copyright remains with the authors; but permission will be requested to publish the winning entries in the 2005 anthology.
