Short Story Competition
The REAL WRITERS SHORT STORY AWARDS
CONDITIONS OF ONLINE ENTRY
- Entries must be prose fiction and the original, unpublished work of the author, and may be in any style or genre.
- Entries should be in English, double spaced, and should not exceed 5000 words. Please use .RTF format to ensure compatibility.
- Closing date 30th November 2005.
- The author's name should not appear on the text of the story; please complete the on-line entry form.
- Entrants may submit as many stories as they wish, at £5.00 sterling per story. Special rate for under-16s: £3. Please append Visa or Mastercard details, using the secure payment facility.
- We regret that we are unable to provide critiques on-line. To receive a critique from a member of our skilled and experienced reading team, please send a paper copy of the story, a stamped return envelope for each critique (manuscripts will not be returned), and additional payment of £15 ($US30, €30) or £10 ($US20, €20) to REAL WRITERS SHORT STORY AWARDS, P O Box 170, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S40 1FE, UK. Each entrant may receive a maximum of two critiques. (Please note this rate is only available for work entered for the Awards.)
All requests for critiques MUST arrive before Nov 1st 2005 - we cannot undertake to critique stories received later than this.
The judges' decisions are final.
Entries which fail to conform to any of these requirements may be disqualified. Entry fees are non-returnable.
Prizewinners will be notified before April 20th 2006. A list of winners will be appear on our website www.real-writers.com after this date.
Copyright remains with the authors; but permission will be requested to publish the winning entries in the 2005 anthology, or on REAL WRITERS' website.
